This sketch was inspired by moments and conversations throughout the day that left me feeling as though I hadn’t presented myself in the best way or said the right thing. These feelings of self-reflection and discomfort served as the foundation for this piece.
I approached the sketch with spontaneity, allowing my hand to move freely in whatever way felt natural and intuitive. I began with my eyes closed, using the thinnest lines to establish the initial layer. From there, I transitioned to orange, a color I associate with unease or discom fort. It felt appropriate to channel my unsettled emotions through such a bold hue. Next, I moved into blue, which introduced a more contemplative tone, before finally adding black to give a more permanent unsettling feeling.
As I scribbled, I focused on the specific moments or interactions that had been bothering me. These thoughts guided the direction and energy of my line movements, each stroke becoming a physical expression of the emotions tied to those experiences.
Interestingly, as I progressed through the colors and layers, I began to notice a shift in how I felt. The act of creating this piece made it easier for me to accept my flaws and shortcomings in those moments. This sketch became not only an artistic exploration but also a form emotional release.
