These explorations were created as part of a media class project focused on capturing the look and feel of a bug. The project challenged me to observe and translate the essence of a bug's characteristics into a visual form. It also served as my introduction to pen and ink, a medium that fascinated me with its unique properties and wide range of possibilities.
These particular pieces are part of a larger collection of studies and experiments I completed in preparation for the final project. With these specific ink explorations, my goal was to convey the jittery, unpredictable movements that bugs are known for. I used the qualities of pen and ink—such as its ability to create both delicate, fine lines and bold, striking marks—to emphasize these erratic motions.
Through this process, I also discovered the versatility of the medium. The ink’s fluidity allowed me to play with texture, layering, and contrast, while the pen gave me control over detail and precision. This piece became not just a study of bugs but also an exploration of the medium itself, pushing me to experiment with its full potential.
Overall, this work reflects a combination of observation, experimentation, and technique, bringing together the intricate energy of a bug and the expressive possibilities of pen and ink.
