This three-hour study was meant to capture the model while allowing for a more intuitive approach to portraiture. It was the first time exploring a portrait freely, without an underpainting or a sketch, which led to a greater sense of spontaneity. The process involved deeper exploration of layering techniques, increased control over the medium, and a deliberate limitation of cool colors. There was also a strong focus on capturing the balance of light and dark within the portrait. Additionally, experimentation with the dry brush technique added texture and depth to the piece.
