This piece was an exploration of watercolor, color, and portraiture, allowing me to deepen my understanding of the medium. Yellow emerged as a dominant color in this study, influencing the overall mood and energy of the piece. I experimented with various techniques, including dry brush, sponge, and wet-on-wet applications, to introduce texture and movement. Watercolor demands a level of delicacy that many other mediums do not, and I find it to be one of the most emotional forms of expression, each layer building upon the last, creating depth and meaning. Choosing a portrait as the subject intensified these emotions, giving the piece a deeper sense of purpose. This exploration inspired me to focus not just on the color itself, but on the emotions present during the life painting session, allowing for a more profound connection between the process and the final piece.
