This painting served as the final project for my media class during my second year. After a period of deep reflection and engaging discussions, this portrait came to life. The primary goal was to capture a strong likeness while exploring the concept that an image can emerge from seemingly simple elements—scribbles, rough paint strokes, and splashes of color.
The process for creating this piece was straightforward yet intentional. It began with careful line work to map out the structure and features of the face. Once the foundation was laid, I transitioned into painting, using deliberate brushstrokes and a carefully chosen palette of colors. These elements were employed not only to represent physical features but also to convey the subject’s emotions, personality, and essence.
This painting is a testament to the idea that complexity can arise from simplicity, and that even rough, abstract marks can come together to create something deeply expressive and meaningful.
