These portraits were created as part of my 2024 fall thesis, which centered on five individuals who made significant contributions to improving the world for minority groups and women. Despite their impactful efforts, these individuals have unfortunately been overlooked, forgotten, or denied the recognition they deserve.
In these pieces, I experimented with tape and digital media as a medium, using the tape not only as a tool for artistic expression but also as a way to explore the deeper meanings tied to the materials I work with. The use of tape allowed me to reflect on themes of restriction, repair, and connection. These are concepts that resonate with the struggles and resilience of the individuals I wanted to bring attention to.
